At Groove Health, we embrace interoperability because it means a better healthcare experience for all stakeholders. Today, to further our commitment to interoperability, we’re upgrading our platform to the latest version of FHIR: R4.
FHIR – Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources – is a next generation standards framework created by HL7. FHIR allows healthcare information, including clinical and administrative data, to be passed securely between systems. For Groove Health, FHIR APIs allow us to seamlessly exchange data between our system and our clients’ Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems. This enables us to deliver enhanced features to customers, like reading and writing medication data to the EHR and seamlessly sync patients’ medication lists from the EHR to their smartphone.
Today’s new release upgrades Groove Health’s FHIR APIs from a prior version — DSTU2 — to the latest version — R4. R4 is the first release with normative content, meaning that the content is no longer in a trial or “beta” phase. R4 also includes a large number of improvements and new capabilities, with over 3,000 changes compared to the prior FHIR version. With R4, we unlock new, more reliable ways to securely share data with customers’ EHR systems, leading to a better patient experience.
